Degree 1st Year Result 2026

Degree pass students sit in nearly twice as many colleges as honours students, many of them in upazila towns where the college office is the only place to get help. The 1st Year pass rate is the lowest of the three degree years, mostly because compulsory English and the foundation papers catch students who joined the course late in the admission cycle. The result is published for all three years at once in some cycles and separately in others, so always read the notice heading before you panic about a missing result.

Step by step

How to check Degree 1st Year Result

Degree results share a single SMS code across all three years, so the year you choose on the website matters more here than anywhere else.

Check online

Full detail: subject grades, points and the final CGPA.

  1. Open results.nu.ac.bd

Any browser works, including Chrome on a cheap handset. On the day Degree 1st Year comes out the server crawls, so wait rather than hitting reload.

  2. Choose Degree 1st Year

Pick the right course group first, then the year. Selecting the wrong year is the usual cause of a result not found message.

  3. Enter your roll or registration number

Copy the number exactly as printed on your admit card, with no spaces or dashes.

  4. Select the exam year

This is the examination year, not the year you were admitted. It is the field students in the 2023-24 session get wrong most often.

  5. Press search

Your name, roll, course grades and CGPA appear. Save a screenshot or print the page.

Check by SMS

Slower to arrive, but it works when the server will not load.

  1. Open your message app

A borrowed phone is fine — the reply returns to whichever number sent the message.

  2. Type NU DEG and your roll

For Degree 1st Year the format is NU DEG 123456, using your own roll number.

  3. Send to 16222

That short code is the National University gateway. Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink, Airtel and Teletalk all reach it.

  4. Read the reply

Expect a short reply quickly. Publication-day queues can stretch it to an hour, which is normal.

Build the exact message below, copy it, and send it to 16222 from any mobile phone. All three degree years use the same code, DEG. The gateway works out your year from your roll number.

It costs one ordinary SMS. Ignore anyone who asks for payment to check a result.

If the reply does not come

  • Check the spelling. It is NU, one space, DEG, one space, then the roll — nothing else.
  • Check that you are sending the roll. A registration number always comes back empty.
  • Confirm Degree 1st Year has actually been published. Before publication the gateway simply returns nothing.
  • Resending again and again pushes you further back in the queue. Send once and wait.

Grades, points and CGPA

Degree 1st Year Result with Marksheet

The degree pass marksheet lists five course results and the compulsory papers, each with a letter grade and grade point.

  1. Open the result server

Go to results.nu.ac.bd and choose Degree 1st Year.

  2. Use your registration number

Type the registration number from your registration card. The roll will not open the grade-by-grade view.

  3. Select the exam year and search

The full Degree 1st Year sheet loads, course by course, with points beside each grade.

  4. Read the grade column

An F means that course has to be taken again. Read every line, not only the total.

  5. Save or print it

Print one copy and keep a PDF. You will need the numbers again at admission and on job forms.

Board challenge

Degree 1st Year Revaluation Application

If a grade looks far below what you expected, you can pay to have the script re-checked. Degree students should apply through the college office wherever possible, because many degree colleges collect and submit the board challenge forms in one batch.

Last date 15–20 days after publication

How to apply

  1. Read the revaluation notice

It names the exam, the courses that can be challenged, the last date and the fee.

  2. Open the application form

Use the board challenge option for Degree 1st Year on the National University portal.

  3. Select only the courses you doubt

You pay for each course separately, so choose the ones where the grade is genuinely surprising.

  4. Download the pay slip

Keep the application number printed on it. You need it for payment and for follow-up.

  5. Pay the fee

Through the channel named in the notice — Sonali Seba at a bank branch, or the mobile option if the notice allows it.

  6. Hand the copy to your college

Colleges set their own internal deadline, always earlier than the university one. Do not leave it to the last day.

Open the application portal

Paying the fee

The notice states exactly how to pay for Degree 1st Year. Agents who offer to "fix" a result are scammers.

  • Sonali Seba Print the slip and pay at any Sonali Bank branch. Keep the stamped student copy.
  • Mobile banking bKash, Rocket or Nagad, where the portal shows the option for your exam.
  • Through the college Some colleges collect and pay in bulk. Ask your department before paying alone.

Worth knowing first

  • Revaluation re-checks the addition and any unmarked answer. It is not a fresh evaluation.
  • Most applications end with no change, and the fee is not refunded.
  • The revaluation result is final. There is no second appeal.
  • Keep filling up the form for your next year while the challenge is pending.

Asked by students

Degree 1st Year Result — common questions

How can I check the Degree 1st Year result 2026?

On results.nu.ac.bd choose Degree Pass, then 1st Year, and type your roll or registration number. By SMS, send NU DEG <your roll> to 16222.

Why is the SMS code the same for all degree years?

The National University SMS gateway identifies your year from the roll number itself, so a single code, DEG, covers 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year.

Is the degree pass course result harder to pass than honours?

The pass rate is lower in 1st Year, but that reflects who sits the exam rather than the paper being harder. Many degree students study alongside a job and join the course late in the admission cycle.

What is the pass mark in the degree pass course?

Forty marks in a course, which is a D grade with 2.00 grade points, exactly as in honours.

Can I move from degree pass to honours after 1st Year?

No. They are separate programmes with separate admission cycles. Changing means applying again through a new admission circular.
